Sconces to Wall Sculpture

Course Description
This course will focus on the ways that Kathy Triplett textures and manipulates slabs of clay to create the shapes that compose her sculptural wall reliefs. The extended pinch method will be demonstrated as a means of building large sculptural forms. An innovative way of combining kiln slumped glass and clay to create a lighted wall sconce will also be explored. Triplett will also demonstrate the ways in which she achieves a variety of her surfaces - from terra-sigillatas, to layering and carving of underglazes, and various sculptural glazes. Construction and installation of wall pieces and tiles will also be discussed.
