Spinning, Dyeing, Knitting: Hands On Color

Course Description
In this class we will take an in-depth look into multicolor yarn design. Spinners, knitters, and other fiber enthusiasts will enjoy a hands-on intensive of dyeing and spinning, and knitting handpainted rovings and yarns. We will learn how to spin many different yarns from one handpainted roving, then with these techniques in mind we will paint rovings to match our inspirations. We will knit with our samples to better understand how to use these marvelous yarns, creating colorful treasure bags in the process. Throughout the week we will spin, dye, spin some more, knitting all the while. Fiber enthusiasts who don’t wish to knit are encouraged to bring their own tools for their chosen method of fiber expression. Prior dyeing experience not required. Spinners and knitters (weavers, crocheters, rug hookers, etc) of all skill levels can enjoy and benefit from this class.
