Anne Bagby

Acrylic Manipulations

Course Description
Anne will lead participants as they probe mixed media and explore acrylic -- from surface, texture, and pattern, to gold leaf and composition. Together, the class will examine hand-stamped paper, stencils, glazes, dry brushing, squeeze bottles, shapes, advanced acrylic techniques, and the pouring of paint. Anne will share secrets and tips on how to use these techniques and each artist will have time for experimentation. Because the class will use a variety of paint and materials, participants should wear old clothing and come prepared to try everything.

This five-day workshop consists of two days exploring various techniques on several small paintings. The next two days, participants will work on a full-size watercolor paper or board. The final day will consist of a positive critique and additional class demonstration, complete with next-stage planning. Participants should come prepared for a full, productive week. Artists of all levels (from beginner to experienced) and backgrounds can expect to benefit from this class, and participants can choose from abstract or realistic approaches to the concepts covered.

Artist's Biography
Anne is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society as well as a member of the Rocky Mountain National Watercolor Society and Watercolor USA Honor Society. Anne Bagby has been painting for more than 20 years in Winchester, Tennessee. She's had over 40 one-person shows, and several of her works were selected for the Art in Embassies program.
