Accommodations

Shakerag participants will be residing in rooms in Woods, Watts, Colmore, and Harvey Houses on the St. Andrew's-Sewanee campus. All residences are air-conditioned, have shared bathrooms, and a common area with a microwave and a television. Each residence is smoke-free, and most residences are wheel-chair accessible.

Bedding (sheets, pillows, and blankets), lamps, and fans are available to rent each week, or you may choose to bring your own.

Woods, Watts, and Colmore have six bedrooms in each House, with twin beds, dressers, and closets in each room. Harvey House has six bedrooms on each floor, all of which are similar to those in the other Houses.

Our accommodations at Shakerag Workshops are simple and modest. Although participants spend the great majority of their time in the studios, there are many lovely areas on campus for sitting, talking, and relaxing with new-found friends. The library, the courtyard outside the dining hall, the dormitory porches, the lounge in the studio area, Shakerag Lounge, Ramsey’s Rest, Wade Patio, the floating dock at the lake, and plentiful outdoor seating areas are all comfortable places to gather. We encourage you to enjoy something different in choosing your housing for Shakerag Workshops: returning to communal living for a week has proved to be a positive experience for our participants in the past. Our residences, studios, and dining facility are all within easy walking distance of one another. Imagine parking your car upon your arrival, and not having to drive for the entire week! Though you are welcome to commute to our studios from the motels located 5 miles down the road, you might enjoy the freedom and ease that living on our campus allows.
