The SAS Fund Needs You!

The annual SAS Fund campaign is our primary philanthropic appeal and the first gift we ask of the St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School community. SAS is a not-for-profit organization and depends on annual contributions to support the operating budget and enhance the experience of a St. Andrew’s-Sewanee education. The money goes to support all facets of the curriculum from academics to the arts. In short, the SAS Fund is absolutely crucial to the school's ability to provide the highest quality education while keeping it affordable for as many families as possible.

Approximately 1,000 individuals, businesses, churches, and foundations support the SAS Fund, with gifts ranging from $10 to over $10,000. These contributions are generally unrestricted (the purest form of philanthropy), strengthening all school programs and touching the life of every student. Whether the support is used for curricular enhancements, faculty professional development, scholarships, sports team trips, theatre production materials, or building upkeep, the SAS Fund's success is crucial in the daily life of St. Andrew's-Sewanee School. The SAS Fund provides nearly 10% of the school's yearly budget.

We finished our 2018 fiscal year with a total of $637,632 in unrestricted dollars that directly benefit our students and faculty, surpassing our goal of $630,000. Words cannot express our appreciation to the hundreds of volunteers and donors who made this SAS Fund Campaign such a huge success. This year's goal is $660,000. We know through the generosity of so many, we will once again achieve our goal of providing the best educational environment for our students and faculty, and for this we are truly grateful.

St. Andrew's was my home; my classmates were my brothers; the faculty and staff were my parents. None of that took away from my parents in Florida, but my day-to-day life during those formative teen years was at St. Andrew's. I became what I am largely on the strength of what I learned and experienced at St. Andrew's. My education and values were set there; my faith was confirmed there. How does one pay back their family and such a large part of their youth? Little by little, with whatever meager contributions can be made. I wish I could do more. May God bless SAS and all who make it what it is. ~ McFerrin Smith, StA '63
