Nature Inspired Soft Covered Books: Supply List
Participants should bring for this class:
- X-acto knife
- Regular Bonefolder
- Teflon Bonefolder
- Butterfly Clips. The clips are for keeping the pages of a signature together when making holes. Binder clips is another name, size medium is best.
- Wax. The wax is for treating the book binding thread, a small piece of solid wax will suffice. Sometimes they are sold with a plastic holder.
- Scissors for paper and fabric
- Pencil
- Awl
- Permanent Marker or Pen
- Glue Stick
- Cutting Mat
- Metal Ruler
Participants should also bring the following (no large quantities):
- Fabric remnants, printed plain, commercial, or natural – anything you like, but not too thick
- 4 – 5 extra pieces of silk, cotton, or linen fabric for dyeing and eco printing (approx. 10 x 14); silk will produce most distinct prints
- Paper scraps, remnants, and ephemera for collaging
- Small watercolor set
- Embroidery threads and sewing needles
- Paint brushes + other favorite mark making tools
- Strong cotton string to tie bundles
- Graphite or charcoal sticks
- Small plastic or glass containers with lids, to keep glue, matt medium, and sumi ink
