Openness & Courage: A Photographic Reset at Shakerag
Join us for a wonderful fall photography workshop in Sewanee, Tennessee. From November 9-12, 2026, Shakerag Workshops is offering a photography class with photographers John Dolan and Holger Thoss. These two experienced teachers will present attendees with two unique (and sometimes conflicting) perspectives.
This class will challenge your current approach and inspire you to start your own personal practice tailored to your vision and goals. Photography is easy, but growing as a photographer takes hard work.
The workshop will be part looking, part talking, part photographing, and part listening.
All that is required is openness and courage.
About The Artists
John Dolan has woven a career of advertising, editorial, and fine art photography over the past 30 years. He is the author of The Perfect Imperfect: The Wedding Photographs of John Dolan, published by Damiani Books. Recent clients include Naomi Biden, AnnaSophia Robb, and Kate Bosworth. Holger Thoss describes himself as “a Brooklynite with a German accent.” In describing his photography, Holger writes, “Breathing, moving and looking has been my underlying purpose for as far as I can remember.
