The Shakerag Planning Team meets throughout the year to plan for the upcoming sessions and future years. The planning team is joined by additional year-round support staff, as well as spring, summer, and fall staff for each session. Explore how you can join our staff.
LEADERSHIP
Christi Teasley
Co-Founder and Director
An artist and educator, Christi’s studio work is primarily textile based and includes stitching, printing, dyeing, and rug hooking. She enjoys introducing Shakerag friends to the natural and cultural wonders of the South Cumberland Plateau.
Claire Reishman
knitting getaway & Spring/Fall Sessions coordinator
Claire continues as an active member of the planning team and as the coordinator of the Shakerag/MDK Knitting Getaway. She also provides leadership for Shakerag's spring and fall sessions. In her spare time Claire makes pots, rides her three horses, and walks her sweet dog Sammy.
Merissa Tobler
Co-founder and Shakerag Store Manager, spring/fall sessions team
Merissa provides leadership in ordering supplies for the studios, gathering goodies for the Shakerag Store, and troubleshooting surprise needs in session. She is a potter, but has become increasingly interested in quilting in the last few years. When not thinking about clay, fabric and Shakerag, Merissa delights in walking and talking with friends and playing with her grandchildren.
Kinion Asmus
Housing Organizer, Registration Guru, and Bookkeeping Assistant
Kinion’s precision is evident not just in her work for Shakerag, but also in her love of cooking, sewing, and anything French. Kinion teaches Humanities, Art History, and Textile Arts at St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School.
Stephanie Layne
Primary Accounting and Record Keeper
Stephanie served as the Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer at St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School for over 35 years. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She invites June participants to stop by the Shakerag Store to say hello.

Summer Staff Coordinator
A long time Shakerag summer staff member, Aleta recently joined the year round staff. She is a clay artist and found object jewelry maker. She also enjoys hand sewing with felt, carpentry, home projects, and learning new materials and techniques.
Caitlin redd
Website & marketing manager
Caitlin Redd is the creator and manager of the Shakerag Workshop website and provides leadership in Marketing and Publicity and design for Shakerag merch. She lives in an ever evolving, off grid home with her husband & three children and enjoys photography & textiles.

Margaret Woods
Spring/Fall Sessions Team
Margaret is a landscape designer, draftswoman, weaver, wannabe painter, embroiderer, basket-maker, and nature journalist. She is mother of three beautiful children and two Nova Scotia duck tolling retrievers.
