The Shakerag Workshops/MDK Knitting Getaway will be a true getaway: a few wonderful days for knitters to gather in Sewanee on the St. Andrew’s-Sewanee campus to enjoy good food, beautiful natural surroundings, and each other. There will be many different things to do: participants can knit and hang out, eat and drink, hike through Shakerag Hollow, swim in our pristine lake, do yoga - and enjoy a variety of short classes. Our 2027 Knitting Getaway Faculty include: Anna Hrachovec, Laura Nelkin, Jan Quarles, and Rüdiger Schlömer. For class details visit Knitting 2027 Getaway Courses. Registrants in the Knitting Getaway will be able to sign up for classes in April, 2027.

Each participant will do all of these things, any of these things, or perhaps, none of these things – exactly as you wish. The one constant will be relaxation and knitting in the company of other knitters, including Ann and Kay.

REGISTRATION

Pre-registration for the 2027 Knitting Getaway opens Saturday, August 15th, and close Saturday, August 22nd. A lottery will be held after August 22nd, and pre-registrants will be notified of the results of the lottery by August 31st, with registration and payment of all fees due before September 15th.

4-Day Workshop
Tuition is $1250
Double Room Housing: $200
All meals are included
Cancellation fee is $200 until 30 days prior to the start of the workshop. Within 30 days of the workshop, the cancellation fee is $500.

HOUSING

On campus housing will be in dormitory rooms on the Shakerag campus, and only double rooms will be available. Those selected in the lottery and registering before September 15th will be guaranteed a place in a double room on campus for the Knitting Getaway. Alternatively, registrants may choose to stay off campus, in housing of their choice.
